Apple has officially released the first public beta versions of its 2027 software updates, allowing users to test iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, and watchOS 27 before their official launch. These preview versions introduce Apple’s latest innovations, including the redesigned Siri AI, faster system performance, improved productivity tools, and several enhancements across the Apple ecosystem. Users enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program can now install these updates directly on compatible devices.
One of the biggest highlights of iOS 27 is the completely redesigned Siri AI. The new Siri is much more advanced than previous versions and works as a conversational AI assistant. It can understand follow-up questions, analyze content displayed on the screen, answer complex queries, and complete multiple actions within apps. Users with supported Apple Intelligence devices can also personalize Siri’s voice, while a dedicated Siri app keeps a history of conversations. Currently, Siri AI supports only English and is not available in the European Union during the public beta. Some users may also experience a waiting period before gaining access.
Apple Intelligence introduces several additional AI-powered features beyond Siri. The Photos app now includes Spatial Reframing, which lets users adjust the composition of images after they are taken. The new Extend feature expands photos beyond their original edges, while the improved Clean Up tool removes unwanted objects more accurately. Image Playground has also been upgraded to generate higher-quality and more realistic AI-created images.
Apple says iOS 27 delivers major performance improvements across the entire system. Applications can launch up to 30 percent faster, newly captured photos appear in the Photos app much more quickly, and AirDrop transfers are significantly faster. These optimizations aim to provide a smoother and more responsive experience on supported devices.
Several built-in apps also receive useful updates. Safari can automatically organize tabs into groups and includes a new Notify Me feature that alerts users about product price changes or restocks on websites. The Passwords app can identify weak passwords and update them automatically for better security. The Shortcuts app now allows users to create automations simply by describing the desired task in natural language.
Apple has also refined its Liquid Glass interface introduced last year. The updated design improves readability and gives users the option to adjust the visual effect with a dedicated slider. Users installing the iOS 27 beta can also access a new AirPods beta firmware that introduces a custom equalizer, adaptive audio controls, and an improved settings menu.
watchOS 27 brings Siri AI to the Apple Watch, making it easier to ask questions while exercising or traveling. The update introduces a Dynamic App Grid that intelligently highlights frequently used apps. A new single-tap gesture allows users to open Smart Stack widgets, while the existing double-tap gesture remains available for scrolling. Apple has also expanded menstrual tracking with menopause and perimenopause support. Workout Buddy now provides better workout insights, works without requiring a nearby iPhone, and supports Spanish.
macOS 27 Golden Gate focuses heavily on productivity. Siri AI is deeply integrated with Spotlight, allowing users to analyze on-screen content, receive writing assistance, and perform tasks more efficiently. The operating system also includes visual improvements such as redesigned toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, refined window shapes, and updated menu bar icons.
iPadOS 27 includes nearly all the features available in iOS 27 while adding improvements specifically designed for iPad users. Visual Intelligence now works with Apple Pencil, allowing users to circle objects on the screen to learn more about them. External storage support has also been enhanced, with Apple claiming file transfers between iPads and SSDs are up to five times faster than before.
Apple reminds users that these are early beta versions and may contain bugs, battery drain, or unexpected performance issues. Those who prefer a more stable experience may want to wait for the second or third public beta before installing the software. To install the public beta, users must first enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program. After enrollment, they can open Settings > General > Software Update, select Beta Updates, and choose the iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, or watchOS 27 public beta that matches their device.
